As Within, So Without

The full quote from Hermetic Philosophy is… “As within, so without, as above, so below, as the universe, so the soul.”

This philosophical perspective outlines the idea that who we are on the inside will be created in the world around us. Though the philosophy was created way before the scientific understanding of various parts of the brain had been studied, it laid the groundwork for understanding the R.A.S. The reticular activating system of the brain is tuned to notice things that are important to a person.

A police officer will notice when a person seems a bit off or scary and will pay closer attention. A salesperson will notice the subtle cues given off by a prospect that indicate a sale is likely or unlikely. Their brains are tuned to that frequency. This tuning effect is like playing a certain TV show of your life. The episode you choose to focus on is the episode that will be projected onto the screen of your life.

This is why it is so important to tune carefully to the right episode. In the episodes I want to watch of my own life, people rally around me, support my business growth, and believe in me. These episodes are the ones where things always work out. The opposite of those episodes also exists, however. How we tune in our inner receiver will determine what plays on our outer projector. It is up to us to be intentional about seeing the good in our own lives. And, when something seemingly negative happens, it is up to us to tune into the part of the show where that setback is actually a setup for our success.

What reality will you create within? What conscious mindset (above) will you create through your actions (below)? What will you intentionally notice (universe/existence) to create the experience of life you desire (soul)? Be intentional today to create the life you desire.
